What is LSI 3ware SCSI Storport Driver?

2020-01-01 (updated 5 days ago) by Chemtable Software

What it is:

A driver for LSI/3ware storage controllers (RAID, SATA, SCSI). It ships with Windows or is installed with the hardware.

What it does:

It makes disks and RAID arrays attached to an LSI/3ware controller work.

Do you need it, can you remove it:

You need it only if such a controller is installed — mostly in servers and workstations. It is a system driver, not an application.

What to do:

Do not remove it: without the driver the disks may become inaccessible. If the controller was physically removed, the driver can be uninstalled, but this is rarely needed on a home PC.
