For What Is Defragmentation Intended
As we use the computer, the system continuously addresses the registry including reading and writing its data. When new information is added to the registry, registry files are partially rewritten onto disk. This can cause fragmentation of the registry files when various parts of one and the same file are written to different sectors of disk.
Why is fragmentation of registry files bad? Fragmentation is bad as it takes more time to read data from a fragmented registry file as compared to reading a file which is written on disk sequentially.
Registry Optimization in Reg Organizer can eliminate this problem. The program writes each registry file onto the disk sequentially, eliminating fragmentation.
Registry defragmentation is effective mostly for Windows XP and the earlier operating systems.
